The Florida Legislature in 1988 revised a law that makes car manufacturers responsible for replacing defective vehicles or refunding consumers' money if the vehicle applies to certain conditions set forth by the Legislature. This law is commonly known as Florida's automobile 'Lemon Law,' or popularly known as lemon law Florida.

The Texas lemon law was put into effect by the Texas legislature in 1983. The Texas Department of Transportation's Motor Vehicle Division and its Motor Vehicle Board administer it. The Texas lemon law is an automobile law that helps consumers who buy or lease new vehicles and have repeated problems get their vehicles properly repaired, repurchased, or replaced. The lemon law applies to cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, motorcycles, motor homes, all-terrain vehicles and tow-able recreational vehicles. It does not apply to used, program cars, or repossessed vehicles.

Buying a car is not like buying a radio; you cannot return it to the store for a refund if you do not like it, or if it has a manufacturing defect. In fact, for many years, if you purchased an automobile that came from the factory with defects, you were just stuck. You could try to get the dealer to repair the problem, but if the problem continued and the dealer could not repair it, you were out of luck.In 1982, the luck of owners of so-called lemons changed for the better, as California and Connecticut passed the nations first lemon laws.

Lemon laws differ from state to state. The main objective of the lemon law is to protect you, as a consumer, from either defective products or services that do not deliver as promised or advertised. More commonly, cases involving the lemon law are those that pertain to newly purchased vehicles that are either defective or experiencing recurring problems that can not be repaired even after you or the manufacturer has attempted to fix the problem numerous times.
